How to Get to Koh Tao
Travel information to help you plan your trip
From Bangkok
There are several ways to reach Koh Tao from Bangkok:
- Flight + Ferry: Fly from Bangkok to Koh Samui, then take a ferry to Koh Tao. This is the fastest but most expensive option.
- Flight + Bus + Ferry: Fly from Bangkok to Surat Thani or Chumphon, then take a bus and ferry combination to Koh Tao.
- Train + Ferry: Take an overnight train from Bangkok to Chumphon, then a ferry to Koh Tao.
- Bus + Ferry: Take a bus from Bangkok to Chumphon or Surat Thani, then a ferry to Koh Tao.
The journey time varies from 6-12 hours depending on the route you choose.
Ferry Services
There are two main ferry operators that service Koh Tao:
- Lomprayah High Speed Catamaran: The fastest option, with multiple daily departures from Chumphon and Koh Samui.
- Seatran Discovery: Offers regular ferry services from Koh Samui and Chumphon to Koh Tao.
We recommend booking your ferry tickets in advance, especially during high season (December-March and July-August).
Resort Transfer Service
Ban's Diving Resort offers a transfer service from the Koh Tao pier to our resort. Please inform us of your arrival details in advance, and our staff will be waiting to welcome you at the pier.
