Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about fun diving at Ban's Diving Resort

What certification do I need for fun diving?

You need to be certified as PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent from any recognized diving agency (SSI, NAUI, BSAC, etc.). If you haven't dived in over a year, we recommend taking a refresher course before joining fun dives.

What is included in the fun diving packages?

Our fun diving packages include professional dive guides, tanks and weights, boat transportation to dive sites, breakfast and lunch on the boat, drinking water, and dive insurance. Equipment rental is available for an additional fee if needed.

What time do the dive boats depart?

Our morning dive boat departs at 7:00 AM and returns around 1:00 PM. The afternoon boat departs at 11:00 AM and returns around 5:00 PM. We ask divers to arrive at the dive center 30 minutes before departure for equipment fitting and dive briefing.

How many dives can I do in a day?

We typically offer 2 dives per day on our regular boat trips. If you wish to do more, you can join both the morning and afternoon boats for a total of 4 dives, though we recommend adequate surface intervals and rest between dives for safety.

Do I need to bring my certification card?

Yes, you must bring your certification card or have digital proof of certification. We also recommend bringing your logbook. If you've forgotten your card, we can verify your certification online with most major training agencies.

What marine life can I expect to see?

Koh Tao is home to a diverse range of marine life including reef fish, moray eels, stingrays, turtles, and various species of reef sharks. Seasonal visitors include whale sharks (most common between March-May and September-November) and manta rays. Our dive guides are experts at spotting marine life and will help you have the best experience possible.
